Conway, NH—As spring begins to establish itself in the mountains of New Hampshire, ski areas throughout the state welcome bluebird skies and longer days (and longer ski area operating hours). While snow has only recently carpeted the southern reaches of NH and other areas of Southern New England, snowfall and cold temperatures have been largely consistent since late October further north, and this has set NH’s ski areas up for a spring ski season in which skiers and riders will revel. Resorts celebrate spring by offering discounts on tickets and passes, and by hosting events galore including free concerts, après ski parties, pond skimming and more. For those looking to try New Hampshire’s state sport for the first time, spring’s sunny skies and warmer temperatures make it a great time to learn to ski or snowboard.

The following is a round-up of spring skiing events and discounts in New Hampshire; more deals and events can be found at www.SkiNH.com:

Black Mountain - Black Mountain offers après ski parties with live music on Friday, Saturday and Sunday through March 31. Many of these events are paired with beer promotions. Earn your turns under the lights with the Friday Night Lights Uphill Series on March 8 and March 15.

Bretton Woods - Every Saturday afternoon Bretton Woods hosts two après ski parties, one for kids-only and one for adults. Guests looking for a different type of on-snow adventure can join a guided snowshoe tour Saturdays through March 30. Saturday, March 9, visitors can compete under the lights in the Freezestyle Jam Session. This grassroots event is fun for all ages, riders or skiers, and spectators are welcome.

End your ski season with the Sapphire Seas events in celebration of Bretton Woods 45th Anniversary. This year’s theme for the Beach Party is Luau Look Out and will include an on-snow scavenger hunt, Sport Thoma demos and the annual Slush Pool competition on Saturday, March 30.

Save some green on St. Patrick’s Day Weekend and get a two-day Sunday-Monday ticket for $117. Cross county Sunday-Monday two-day tickets are $27.

Cannon Mountain - The Cannonball pub hosts après ski parties with live music Saturdays through April 6. Olympic medalist and four-time world skiing champion Bode Miller, his family and Cannon Mountain host BodeFest at Cannon Mountain Ski Area on March 17. Guests can try their luck ski racing against Bode at this family-friendly competition. The ultimate retro ski day, Cannon’s 80’s Day on March 30 features The Old School Duel on March 30, an event where guests compete for the raddest trick in retro gear. Other 80’s Day eventsinclude a retro-themed demo day where skiers can try the newest Blizzard skis in all 80’s denim (Blizzard skis offers denim jackets to wear while demoing the skis) and live music by 80’s cover band Fast Times.

Cranmore Mountain Resort - March 17 marks St. Patrick's Day fun at Cranmore Mountain Resort with $17 Lift Tickets (Limited Quantities Available - Online Only) for all ages. Guests can dance the night away with a St. Patty’s après ski party from 5:00pm at Zips Pub featuring live music and holiday shenanigans.

On March 23, visitors should check out the Spring Splash Bash where guests test their luck skiing and snowboarding across a splash pool. This is a spectator and kid-friendly event with live music, prizes, giveaways and more. ‘Over-the-hill’ skiers and snowboarders will take their rad style to the hill at the Has Been, Never Was 30+ Slopestyle Competition on March 24.

Great Glen Trails - Great Glen Trails hosts their Winter Charity Day, an event which celebrates active lives and promotes the spirit of giving. Guests who make a minimum donation of $25 per person to the charity of their choice can enjoy free skiing, tubing, snowshoeing and a buffet lunch.

Gunstock Mountain Resort - Guests can enjoy a variety of après ski parties on Saturdays through April 6 featuring anything from beer promotions and live music to radio station DJ’s broadcasting live from the Main Lodge. On March 17 guests can join in on the Shamrock Shenanigans, a series of day-long activities that include an on-snow scavenger hunt, Irish music, and a prize wheel.

Every Saturday evening until March 30 guests can take the chairlift to the mountain summit and traverse the ridge on snowshoes with headlamps. On Saturdays visitors can join a horse-drawn sleigh ride, and then on Sundays guests can stretch their worries away with yurt yoga through April 6. End the season with a splash by entering the annual BYODC (Bring Your Own Dry Clothes) Pond Skim. This competition is open to all ages brave enough to attempt to cross the pond and is super fun for spectators.

Jackson XC - Saturdays and Sundays guests can enjoy guided snowshoe tours through March 17. On March 16 winter enthusiasts will take to the trails to run, snowshoe and ski to the finish line in the Baxter Winter Triathlon.

King Pine Ski Area - King’s Mark Big Air Comp on March 9 is a big air competition event for skiers and riders of all levels. On March 10 King Pine hosts the 19th annual snowboard race in memory of Mark Bierweiler. This race is one of the most unique snowboard-only events in the region, a slalom race through a course with hits, rolls, and jumps. Ski and give back at Cynthia’s Challenge 24-Hour Ski-A-Thon on March 15. Proceeds will help a local family in need to purchase a handicap accessible van.

On Saturday, March 16 join the King Pine edition of the Vertical Challenge—a fun and family-friendly ski and snowboard race for all ages and abilities with tons of great prizes, giveaways, and free samples. For guests with crafty kids, King Pine hosts a Cardboard Box Derby where competitors build a themed snow-derby-car for two to four people and race down a special race course. On Sunday, March 31 skiers and riders will attempt to cross the man-made shark-pond at the base of King Pine on the final day of the season. Hawaiian shirts are recommended.

Loon Mountain Resort - Rev up your spring skiing by giving back at the New England Disabled Sports Winter Challenge on March 9. The event features a Casino Night and a ski race, and proceeds support New England Disabled Sports. On March 16-17 Loon hosts Beyond the Boundaries, a weekend-long, ladies-only snowboard clinic created by women, for women. Kids combine their love of snow and cardboard boxes at the Cardboard Box Derby on March 17. Loon is teaming up with Oakley to bring guests a week full of activities during Oakley Week (March 23-28) ranging from the Oakley Minipipe Challenge, demo day and Last Call, the East Coast’s biggest and longest running snowboard event.

McIntyre Ski Area - McIntyre hosts their Pond Skim and Hawaiian Festival March 9. This family-friendly event will be fun and laugh-filled; prizes will go to a range of “bests,” including best costume, best splash, and best skim.

Mount Sunapee Resort - Spring festivities start on March 17 with the St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Hunt. Guests will take to the bumps on March 24 for the Mueller Cup, a fun moguls competition where costumes are encouraged. Guests can take the plunge in the family and spectator-friendly 21st Annual Slush Cup on March 30. The 28th Annual Intergalactic Cardboard Sled Race is April 6. Teams will build their best cardboard sled using only cardboard, glue, and duct tape.

Pats Peak - March 9 & 10 marks Hawaiian Weekend at Pats Peak featuring two days of fun for the whole family complete with tropical decorations around the mountain. The Man of Steel Rail Jam is on March 10. The ultimate après event, Pats Peak’s Pond Skim and Beer Garden Garage Band Party on March 16. This one-day combination of events is sure to provide memories for all.

Ragged Mountain Resort - Guests can enjoy après ski parties with live music every Saturday afternoon through April 6. March 17 competitors will go head to head in a one-on-one boardercross event in the Not Another Banked Slalom event. On March 24 Ragged will hand-cut a halfpipe for the Back In The Day Pipe Jam. Back for another year, Ragged’s Bump N' Jump, Mogul and Big Air competition on March 30 will be fun for competitors and spectators alike. Guests can close out the season at Ragged with their signature Pond Skim and Spring Fling on April 6.

Waterville Valley Resort - Guests will ‘earn their turns’ on March 9 at the Winter Wild Up & Down Race. This event is an uphill series with a twist, the finish is at the bottom so competitors get to ski/ride back down too. The U.S. Freestyle Championships will be returning to the East Coast for the second year in a row. The competition is scheduled for March 16-17 and will feature moguls and dual moguls. The nation’s best alpine ski racers will descend upon New Hampshire’s Waterville Valley Resort in 2019 and 2021 for the Toyota U.S. Alpine Tech Championships—the biggest race the resort has hosted since the White Circus visited in 1991 when Julie Parisien won the World Cup giant slalom. Waterville Valley Resort will play host to the slalom, giant slalom, and parallel slalom events March 23-26, 2019. Bid Aloha to the ski season at Waterville Valley’s 8th Annual Last Run Luau pond skimming event on April 6.
