Forecast Discussion
A warm front will push through today, followed by an approaching cold front tomorrow, creating several chances for showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period. A shortwave disturbance that passed through overnight will result in morning rain showers, which look to taper off fairly early. In the meantime, the frontal boundary that has pestered New England over the last few days will make one last surge northward, allowing milder air to stream in, sending the mercury into the 70s. Some clearing is possible around midday before daytime heating prompts the development of more clouds, showers, and perhaps a few thunderstorms. This risk will linger into the overnight, with cloudy skies remaining, and temperatures hardly budging at all due to the mild southwest flow. Tomorrow, a strong cold front will approach deliberately from the west, destabilizing the air, which will allow showers and thunderstorms to pop up during the afternoon in its advance. Any thunderstorms that develop over the forecast period will have the potential to produce strong, gusty winds, heavy downpours, and dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning.
