NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, MAY 2010 - From May until the snow flies again in November, Ski NH mountain resorts offer a spectacular line-up of special events for the entire family - from antique car shows and craft fairs, to golf tournaments, food festivals, bike races, fishing derbies, dance instruction, music festivals, and more. From sports fanatic to fine arts lover, there is something to entertain everyone, and it all happens amid some of the most beautiful scenery New Hampshire's lakes and mountains have to offer. Here is a selection of what guests have to look forward to this summer:
MAY
May 22 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Lake Sunapee Bike Race - Longest running bike race in New England, sanctioned by
USCF.
May 29 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Youth Fishing Derby - Fishing derby at Cochran's Pond with prizes for different |
age groups.
May 30 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 21st Annual Chowder and Brewfest - Area restaurants compete for the "Golden
Clam Award". Guests pay a fee to sample chowder and vote for their favorites. A free outdoor
concert is also scheduled.
JUNE
June 5 CRANMORE: Scotland in the Valley - A day of Scottish music, fun, games and culture.
June 6 GUNSTOCK: Kids' Spring Fishing Derby - Kids' fishing derby hosted by Belknap County Sportsmen.
June 16 GUNSTOCK: 16th Annual Motorcycle Hillclimb - Watch motorcycles climb up the mountainside and enjoy
food and live music.
June 24-25 EASTMAN RECREATION CENTER: Benefit for Norris Cotton Cancer Center - Enjoy a benefit auction
and golf outing.
June 27 LOON MOUNTAIN: Minis on Top - Mini Coopers return to Loon to stage their trek across New Hampshire.
June 27 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Sunapee Lions Club Collectible Car Show - 300 classic cars and trucks, and up to
200 classic motorcycles on display at Mount Sunapee Resort. Free aerial sky ride with paid admission.
JULY
July 2-5 BRETTON WOODS: 2nd Annual Salute to Freedom- Patriotic fun saluting soldiers.
Activities include BBQ's, live entertainment and games.
July 3-4 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Independence Weekend Celebration and Fireworks - Guests can enjoy a parade,
t-shirt dying, bounce house, live music, dunk tank, fireworks and more.
July 3-5 GUNSTOCK: 39th Annual Craft Fair- Enjoy shopping from a variety of juried craft vendors.
July 4 LOON MOUNTAIN: The Loon Mountain Race - A 6.2 mile race up Loon Mountain as part of the New
England Trail Running Series.
July 9-11 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Black Fly Triathlon and Festival - Three-day event with a competition, fireworks
and more.
July 10 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Entertainment Series - A fun evening featuring local musicians, comedians
and more. Shows are for ages 21+ and begin at 7pm.
July 10 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Apple Jam by King Blossom Guitars - Live music with the Dan Lawson Band,
YouTube's Riffguy, Little Memphis, Last Kid Picked, Southern Breeze, Samuel Bowen and
special guests.
July 10-11 PATS PEAK: 9th Annual Pats Peak Mountain Bike Festival- 24, 12 & 6 hour cross country races and
downhill racing.
July 11 GUNSTOCK: 84th Annual Miss Winnipesaukee Pageant- The oldest continuously-running pageant in the
Miss America System.
July 12-17 EASTMAN RECREATION CENTER: NH Men's Amateur Golf Championship - Watch the best amateur
golfers in New Hampshire compete.
July 15 CRANMORE: Best of Stone Mountain Live - Set up your picnic blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a live
concert with Carol Noonan and the Stone Mountain Boys.
July 16-18 GUNSTOCK: Lakeside Living Expo - Over 300 vendors of log homes, rustic décor, boats and everything for
lakeside living.
July 17 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Entertainment Series - A fun evening featuring local musicians, comedians and
more. Shows are for ages 21+ and begin at 7pm.
July 23 CRANMORE: Seek the Peak Fundraiser - An outdoor concert fundraiser for the Mt. Washington Observatory
with a performance by Assembly of Dust.
July 24 BRETTON WOODS: Sha-boom Classic Car Parade and Sock Hop - Enjoy a classic car show and parade,
sock hop with live music and costume rentals.
July 24 LOON MOUNTAIN: Hot Dog Festival - Hot dogs, hot dog eating contest and fun games for the entire family.
July 24 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Ugotta Regatta - Canoe, kayak and peddle boat races on Corcoran's Pond.
July 24-25 GUNSTOCK: Gilford Rotary Rockin' Ribfest- Food and fun for the whole family.
July 29 CRANMORE: Big Band Swing and Jazz by the Compaq Big Band -Enjoy a live concert with the 20-piece
Compaq Big Band.
July 31 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Entertainment Series - A fun evening featuring local musicians, comedians and
more. Shows are for ages 21+ and begin at 7pm.
July 31-August 1 WATERVILLE VALLEY: WV 'Rock This' Country Music Festival- Enjoy top country bands, line dancing,
BBQ's, Sugar-Coated Shakespeare and more.
AUGUST
August 4-7 GUNSTOCK: Soulfest - The largest outdoor music festival in New England with five stages and over 125
artists and speakers.
August 5 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Wild West Penny Carnival - An old west evening in Town Square.
August 7 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Entertainment Series - A fun evening featuring local musicians, comedians
and more. Shows are for ages 21+ and begin at 7pm.
August 7 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 11th Annual Chocolate and Jazz - Live jazz music along with a selection of
chocolate temptations.
August 7-15 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 77th Annual League of NH Craftsmen's Fair - Over 200 booths of juried artists.
Demonstrations, workshops, exhibitions and performances.
August 12 CRANMORE: New England Symphony, Clayton Poole and Fireworks - Set up your picnic blankets and lawn
chairs and enjoy a live concert with a professional wind symphony orchestra.
August 13-15 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Curious George Cottage Family Festival - Features a Curious George story hour,
movie viewing, planetarium shows, banana pancake breakfast, family nature walk, fireman's BBQ,
live music, face painting and games for kids.
August 14 CRANMORE: Newcastle Brown Ale Concert Series - Outdoor concert with popular alternative music.
August 14 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Entertainment Series - A fun evening featuring local musicians, comedians
and more. Shows are for ages 21+ and begin at 7pm.
August 20-22 GUNSTOCK: Timberfest - Enjoy live music, sports and fitness expo, Ironman Champions' dinner and

August 27-29 BRETTON WOODS: Roaring 20's Weekend- Enjoy a weekend of celebrating the culture of the 1920's with
live music, dinners, and more.
SEPTEMBER
September 4-5 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Send Off Weekend - Weekend of music, games, food and more before kids
return to school.
September 5 WATERVILLE VALLEY: "Just Ducky"End of Summer Bash and Fireworks - Enjoy fireworks, kids' games
and a charity duck race.
September 17-19 LOON MOUNTAIN: New Hampshire Highland Games - Three-day festival celebrating everything Scottish
including food, music, culture, dancing, athletics and more.
September 24-26 LOON MOUNTAIN: Nor'easter powered by EMS - Three day festival with outdoor sports, conservation
and music.
September 25 BLACK MOUNTAIN: Foliage Arts and Music Festival - Enjoy 10-15 live bands, local artists, great food,
local beers and much more.
OCTOBER
October 2 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 12th Annual Chili Challenge - Area restaurants compete for the title of best chili.
Attendees pay a sampling fee then vote for their favorites. Guests can also enjoy a chili bean toss,
chili pepper eating contest and outdoor concert.
October 8-10 PURITY SPRING RESORT: Peepin' Paddlers Foliage Tour - A weekend of paddling and foliage for all ages
and abilities.
October 9-10 LOON MOUNTAIN: Oktoberfest - Family entertainment, German music, food, beer and more.
October 9-10 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 2nd Annual Fall Foliage Pig Roast & Barbecue - Outdoor pig roast and barbecue, aerial
sky rides, games and activities with prizes, pumpkin carving and live music.
October 9-10 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Fall Foliage Festival - Enjoy family activities, outdoor concerts, merchant tent sales,
ski swap, brewfest, kids' games, pumpkin painting and a pie eating contest.
October 29-31 BRETTON WOODS: Hallow-Brew Weekend- Sample seasonal brews from local breweries, dress up for a
costume contest and have your tarot cards read.
