ALPINE LEARN-TO PROGRAMS
New Hampshire ski areas have fantastic learn to ski and ride programs throughout the season. Without a doubt, the best way to start your new sport (dare we say, your new passion?) is to take a lesson - even several lessons - with a professional ski instructor. This ensures you will have the best experience, and learn the right techniques from the get-go.
Learn to Ski/Snowboard $79
Includes 90 minute lesson, rental equipment and rope tow ticket. Our small group sizes and excellent teachers will have you on the snow and loving it in no time! Available by reservation, 10am and 1pm
Red Carpet Learn to Ski/Burton Learn to Ride- Start your day with a fun and easy introduction to the sport of skiing or snowboarding. The package includes ski or board rental, a group lesson and unlimited access to the Learning Center Quad. Offered daily at 10 am and 1 pm for $89.
Each new skier or rider who completes their lesson will receive a special Explore the Woods Discount Card. The cardholder will receive a 10% discount at resort retail outlets and a 20% discount on rentals, lift tickets and ski school lessons for the remainder of the 2018-2019 ski season. In addition, the cardholder will have the opportunity to purchase a 2019-2020 Bretton Woods season pass for 20% off the early season price. Additionally all Explore the Woods cardholders will be invited to the Season Passholder BBQ in March 2019!
The Snowsports School at Cannon Mountain is located slopeside in the Brookside Learning Center adjacent to the Peabody Base Lodge in the main base area off exit 34C. The Cannon Mountain ski school is certified by Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA), and we are nearly 100 ski instructors and 20 snowboard instructors strong. Our staff ranges from National team members to level 1 certified instructor along with new trainees.
Cranmore Mountain Resort
GET is now Get Skiing and Riding: Cranmore’s Get Skiing or Riding gets first-timers age 13+ feeling confident on snow with Terrain Based Learning. Lesson packages include rentals, a lower lift ticket and a two hour lesson.
This program for the over 18 crowd, provides the opportunity to discover the joys of snowsports during an uncrowded time on the slopes. The goal of this program is to introduce/increase skills of in small groups taught by our professional instructors. The program is 6 weeks long with each session lasting 90 minutes. Session times are Friday mornings from 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM (customized times/groups may be available by contacting the Snowsports School Director).
Gunstock Mountain Resort
Our Beginner Package includes Lower Mountain Lift Ticket, Rentals, and a 2-hr Lesson. Night Sessions this year include complimentary “Quick Tips” lessons from roaming instructors—if you’re looking to improve on some skiing or riding skills, take a couple of runs with an instructor and get some free pointers!

Loon Mountain Resort
Beginners who enroll in the First Class Beginner’s Weekend program at Loon will be treated to a weekend-long learning experience that includes a FREE pair of HEAD skis, bindings and boots - and a private slopeside learning lounge.Loon’s Learn-to-Ski or Ride packages are another great learning option. Offered for ages 14 & up, each package includes a novice lift ticket, equipment rentals, and a group lesson. Loon also offers a variety of camps and programs for kids as young as 3 and up.
McIntyre Ski Area
The Snowsports School at McIntyre consists of skiing & snowboarding lesson programs for kids and adults. We also offer private, semi-private, and group lessons on Thursday and Friday evenings, weekends, and holidays. From very beginners to seasoned skiers and riders, our friendly, knowledgeable staff can help you reach your snowsports goals.
Mount Sunapee Resort
Mount Sunapee's Mountaineer program is designed for all skier and rider abilities from 4 to 7 years old. Our unique 3:1 student to instructor ratio allows for more individual attention in a small group setting.
Kids get expert, caring instruction so they can learn quickly and gain confidence. Mount Sunapee's South Peak learning area is designed so beginners can learn the fundamentals they will need to enjoy a lifetime of skiing or riding, all within a safe environment. It has five lifts servicing 13 trails.
With the Explorers Seasonal Program, Kids get expert, caring instruction so they learn quickly and gain confidence. Mount Sunapee features the South Peak beginner area complete with five lifts servicing 13 trails. This separate mini-mountain area is excellent for learning, allowing beginners to progress in a comfortable and relaxed environment.
Amplitude Plus is the Mount Sunapee Learning Center’s season-long program for those coming out of Mountaineers or looking for a non-competition, skills-based program.
Our program averages a 5:1 student to coach ratio for the ultimate in personal development. Participants with similar interests and abilities are grouped accordingly and will ski/ride with the same select group of coaches all season long. This is not a competition based program - if athletes are looking for competition coaching and support, they will be directed to the Alpine Programs.
Our program does more than just develop each participant’s all mountain skills, it also fosters camaraderie and promotes respect for other skiers and riders, both in and out of the program.

Ragged Mountain Resort offers learn to ski and snowboard programs for all ages and ability levels based on the American Teaching System. We offer group lessons, private lessons, day and half day programs for kids at our Adventure Camp. We also offer the Welcome to Snow program for first-time skiers over the age of 13. Waterville Valley Resort
For ages 7 and up, Learn to Ski & Ride inclusive beginner's package includes a 2 hour beginner group lesson, quality rental equipment and a lower mountain lift ticket*. The Learn to Ski & Ride package is offered at 10am or 1:30pm on weekends & holidays, and at 10am or 1pm midweek.
*Lower mountain lift ticket includes lift access on the Pasture Carpets, Lower Meadows Double, and the Valley Run Quad.
