Loon Mountain Resort

Beyond the Boundaries

Run by women, for women, Beyond the Boundaries is staffed by professional snowboarders, skiers, and coaches from around the globe who are eager to share their expertise and passion for the mountains. Beyond the Boundaries, created by two longtime Droppin' In coaches, Mary Walsh and Christine Savage, provides campers a unique opportunity to learn from the best and expand their skills in a supportive setting. Over the course of the two-day program, participants will learn new tricks in a private, custom-built terrain park and test themselves in the ultimate proving ground: Loon's award-winning progression of terrain parks. Every step of the way, campers will receive insightful analysis from their pro coaches, including athletes like Loon-local-turned-big-mountain-pro Mary Rand, Olympian Faye Gulini, Utah-based riders Nirvana Ortanez and Madison Blackley, Quebecois skier and community leader Jade Chretien, and other trailblazing female athletes. Led by Christine Savage and Mary Walsh, BTBounds includes all of the Droppin' In favorites, including morning yoga sessions, catered breakfast and lunch, goodies bags for everyone loaded with gear from sponsors, Saturday apres and Sunday awards celebration, with the goal of enhancing the event each season for years to come. The Francis Piche Invitational race commemorates the life of local figure Francis Piche, who founded the Piche's Ski Shop and promoted the sport of skiing in the Lakes Region. After returning home from WWII in 1945 he ran his shop on nights and weekends and was active in the local skiing groups. The race, originally called the Thompson Trophy, was named in honor of Francis Piche in 1995. Congratulations to all athletes qualifying for the 2019 Francis Piche Invitational at Gunstock Mountain Resort on March 15th - March 17th, with additional training days on March 13th and 14th.
