Bretton Woods Nordic Center

46th Annual Geschmossel Race

This 15 km classic Nordic race takes place on the Ammonoosuc trail network at the Bretton Woods Nordic Center and attracts high-level Nordic skiers from around the country, including members of the United States Ski Team.

Full Moon Ski Tour

Our first full moon tour of the season is on January 21st at Garipay Field. We will depart at 7 p.m. so come ready to ski and dress warm! If you need rental equipment, please pick it up from Oak Hill Touring Center before 5 p.m. the same evening. There will be a complimentary guide, hot chocolate and bonfire at the end of the tour.

Great Glen Trails

Nordic Meisters

The largest (and most fun) weekly cross-country race series in the country! Join us Tuesdays from January 8 – March 5, 2019. 

It’s our 24th year! Thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs! The series consists of eight weeks of timed runs with the six best times selected for series-end standings. Choose between the long (5.3km) or short (2.7km) course in the classic or skate technique—or ski them both.

 

Fatbike Meisters

New in 2019, Great Glen Trails opens up its Nordic Meister course to Fatbikes in the evening, 4:00-6:00pm (the last time to leave the starting line is 6pm).

Dovetailing our Nordic Meisters Series, one of the largest citizen ski races in the country, Fatbike Meisters begins Tuesday, January 8th and runs every Tuesday for 8 weeks (excluding February 19th). The series ends on March 5th with a makeup date of March 12th. The Fatbike Meisters will join the Nordic Meisters awards party and raffle hosted at the Great Glen Base Lodge on March 15th at 5:30pm.

Candie Tremblay will be performing from 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM at our a·près-ski event in the Lostbo PUB at Black Mountain Ski Area in Beautiful Jackson, New Hampshire. Whether you're just getting off the slopes, or in the area, swing by for a nice cold beer or cocktail, and grab a bite to eat, while enjoying the music of Candie Tremblay. Candie harmonizes beautifully with her ukulele as she plays rock, pop, indie, and reggae songs to soothe the soul.

Friday Night Lights Uphill Series

FNL is back at Black Mountain for Season 2 of their nighttime uphill series. Last year saw over 200 participants of all ages and abilities wind up and down unique courses followed by apres at Lostbo Pub with weekly raffles. Kids’ Après Ski Parties

Kids ages 4-12 are welcome to join in this special après ski fun! This supervised program will take place from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm upstairs in the Mount Washington View Room, located on the Heaven Level of the Bretton Woods Base Lodge. Special après are scheduled on most Saturday’s and during vacation and holiday periods. Each party will include themed activities and refreshments for kids. Parents are welcome to leave their kids at this supervised program and enjoy entertainment at the Slopeside Lounge. Reservations are not required for this complimentary program.

In conjunction with the Appalachian Mountain Club, Great Glen Trails offers you the chance to really get to know Pinkham Notch, with a FREE tour (trail pass is required). When you ski with a naturalist, you will learn about the flora and fauna that make our corner of the world so special.

You'll scout for tracks in the snow and learn about the different trees in the Glen. While listening for distinct bird calls, you'll truly begin to understand how the ecosystem works in Pinkham Notch. Tours are FREE with a trail pass.

From January 27th until Feb. 10th, we will be offering a community wide ski program hosted at Oak Hill Touring Center and the Dartmouth Skiway. You will learn 3 different types of skiing over these 3 sessions taught by professional ski instructors. This includes instruction in each of the following: Classic, Skate and Telemark skiing. Join us for a fun and exciting way to get out and enjoy the winter season!

Time: Lessons are from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
Cost: $65 for non-pass holders $60 for students and season pass holders

For 1st through 8th graders, the Great Glen BKL* Club is a weekly program that emphasizes the fun of skiing, making new friends, and learning and improving skiing skills.

(*BKL: Bill Koch League, a regional youth ski program, is named after Bill Koch, the first U.S. Olympic medalist in cross-country skiing.)

The Club meets Sunday afternoons from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm.
